Equipping a hotel with large-format monitors: display solutions for public spaces
High-end hospitality is no longer limited to the comfort of rooms: the guest experience begins upon entering the establishment. Common areas—lobbies, lounges, relaxation areas—are becoming immersive spaces where digital signage plays a central role. Equipping a hotel with large-format monitors radically transforms the atmosphere and perception of the space.
Deploying a fleet of monitors in a hotel serves several purposes. 98" or 86" monitors installed in the lobby create an immediate "wow" effect, broadcasting immersive video content: landscapes, digital art, or information on the hotel's services. 65" monitors in the lounges allow for targeted communication (events, spa, restaurant), while curved models add a unique design touch that reinforces the visual identity of the venue.
The technical challenge lies in the consistency of the fleet: all monitors must be controllable from a centralized solution (CMS) to script content according to zones and times of day. It is essential to favor LFD (Large Format Display) monitors designed to operate continuously, unlike consumer televisions which are not sized for 24/7 professional use.
The benefits for the property are tangible: strong competitive differentiation, enhanced service offerings, improved customer reviews, and the creation of Instagrammable spaces that contribute to the hotel's organic marketing. The initial investment pays off with a perceived increase in value, justifying premium rates.

Q. Hotel Nanpuro has installed many JAPANNEXT monitors. What motivated you to do so?
The first monitor I purchased was the JN-T2820UHD 28-inch 4K monitor on May 14, 2016. I was initially looking for a 4K monitor to use for video production, and when I saw it on a new product page online and saw that it was reasonably priced, I decided to buy it.
Q. JAPANNEXT started selling monitors under this brand in 2016. So you were one of the first to buy one! Did you have any concerns about this purchase?
Of course, I had never heard of this brand at the time, but I bought it because it seemed to offer excellent value for money. I have been using JAPANNEXT products ever since.
JAPANNEXT monitors are used as signage throughout the hotel.
Q. Several of our large monitors, including the 98-, 86-, 55-, and 65-inch curved screens, are used in the hotel. Why did you install them?
The main reason is that we want to surprise our guests. Our hotel doesn't offer the usual family-friendly experience of eating and watching TV in your room. Instead, it allows guests to have as much fun as they want, even after 8 p.m. For example, we offer table tennis and billiards in front of reception, shooting games in the lobby, and adults can enjoy a drink in the lounge while keeping an eye on their children. In the children's play area, you can watch the kids having fun on the climbing wall on a large screen. We also installed an 86-inch monitor in front of reception, where we broadcast various content tailored to each guest. Large screens make a strong impression and can be used for a variety of purposes, including displaying welcome messages and, of course, guiding guests through the hotel. That's why we installed them throughout the hotel. Their simple curvature is enough to surprise guests.
An 86-inch monitor is installed in front of the reception area. A ping-pong table will be set up after dinner; a protective panel has been installed to protect the screen from impacts from rackets and other objects.
A large JAPANNEXT monitor has also been installed in the children's play area, allowing children's activities to be monitored in real time.
Q. Why did you choose the JAPANNEXT monitors?
The most important factor is the wide range of LFD sizes and the price-performance ratio. Most 98-inch LFDs from other manufacturers cost over 2 million yen, so the price-performance ratio of JAPANNEXT LFDs was a major advantage.
Also, as it will be used for meetings etc., rather than a projector or LED panel, brightness and readability from the customer's perspective are important points.
Q. There are many 98-inch monitors in the rooms used for wedding parties.
We want to surprise and delight our guests, which is why we installed a 220-inch multi-screen main display at the front and a 98-inch JAPANNEXT monitor as a secondary display.
Too bad the multi-monitor isn't made by JAPANNEXT. We'd love to see them release a 55-inch frameless monitor.
In the bridal room, a 98-inch JAPANNEXT monitor (X98) was installed as a sub-screen for the 220-inch multi-screen.
In addition, four 86-inch monitors will be installed in the room.
Two 75-inch JAPANNEXT monitors were also installed at two locations along the hallway through which the bridal guests would enter.
A large monitor has also been installed in the guest lounge, where videos such as Korean music are selected according to the guests' tastes.
Q. What was your impression of the interactions with distributors and manufacturers before implementation?
I always buy from the official JAPANNEXT website or the JAPANNEXT online store on Rakuten. I've also occasionally bought from Kojima, and I've generally had a good impression. Large monitors from other brands can take a while to arrive, so I appreciate their speedy delivery.
Q: What do you think about it after actually implementing it?
As expected, the feedback from our customers has been excellent. And perhaps because we're located in Nagasaki Prefecture, those who use our facilities for meetings often ask me, "What product is this? Is it JAPANNEXT?" I always reply, "It's JAPANNEXT." They seem particularly interested in our large 86- and 98-inch monitors.
A 65-inch monitor has been installed in this waiting room.
Q. Do you think you will consider JAPANNEXT products in the future?
Of course, we'd like to use them. We have an annex (Minami Terrace) available for rent, which will open in March 2024. We currently have two 86-inch screens and five 75-inch monitors there. We'd also like to add two 98-inch screens later. Also, as I mentioned in the wedding section, we'd like JAPANNEXT to create a 55-inch frameless product.
I'd like to build a multi-screen setup with JAPANNEXT products. Connecting four units makes 110 inches, nine units makes 165 inches, and 16 units makes 220 inches. So a 55-inch monitor would be easy to use. The ones I'm currently using cost over 400,000 yen each, so I'm hoping JAPANNEXT can make it much cheaper. (Since the basic setup requires four or more units, I only need four to get 4K. So I'm thinking one unit could be 2K, and I wouldn't need speakers, which would keep the price slightly lower.)
The new Minami Terrace will also have two 86-inch and five 75-inch JAPANNEXT monitors installed, with two more 98-inch monitors planned.
