Equipping an e-sports center: a fleet of 200Hz gaming monitors on a budget
Esports is establishing itself as a means of promoting community engagement and inclusion in community centers. Equipping an esports venue helps attract a young audience, create social connections around a popular sport, and offer structured activities (tournaments, initiations, workshops). The challenge for communities: deploying a fleet of high-performance gaming monitors on a budget.
The key lies in choosing equipment that offers the best performance/price ratio. 24" Full HD 200Hz monitors are now the standard for competitive esports, delivering the fluidity needed for FPS and arena games without breaking the bank. For a room with 10 to 15 stations, choosing a consistent monitor set facilitates maintenance and ensures fairness between players during group sessions.
Equipment isn't limited to monitors: you'll need mid-range gaming computers suited to popular titles (Fortnite, Valorant, League of Legends), peripherals that can withstand heavy use, and a robust network infrastructure. Ergonomics also matters: adjustable stands, cable management, and suitable lighting to limit eye strain during extended sessions.
The return on investment is measured in terms of the venue's attractiveness, increased attendance, and new audiences reached. Many centers are finding that esports is quickly becoming a flagship activity, generating registrations, partnerships with local associations, and a modernized image for public facilities.

Q. What was the (business) reason that prompted you to introduce JAPANNEXT gaming monitors?
Tokushima Prefecture has long enjoyed widespread high-speed internet access and a thriving subculture, including a twice-yearly anime event, "Machi Asobi."
At the same time, the prefecture's youth center was relocated and a new digital studio was built to promote esports, anime, and other disciplines. It will open in September 2022. This studio is managed by the Tokushima Esports Association.

Q. Why did you choose the JAPANNEXT monitor (23.8 inch WQHD 144Hz) this time?
We wanted to get the best possible monitor for our limited budget. When choosing equipment, specificaly for computers, we discovered JAPANNEXT monitors, which offered excellent value for money.
At Digital Studio, we wanted to use this monitor for applications other than gaming, so we were looking for a model with the highest possible resolution, but we initially thought it would be too expensive for our budget.
Thanks to JAPANNEXT, we were finally able to get a WQHD gaming monitor at an affordable price.
Q. What was your impression of the interactions with distributors and manufacturers before implementation?
We opened in September 2022, but the opening was originally planned for about six months earlier.
However, due to the impact of COVID-19, a shortage of semiconductors and the unavailability of several devices led to a postponement of the opening.
We appreciated the flexibility provided regarding the monitors, including checking stock and changing delivery dates.
Q: What do you think about it after actually implementing it?
Users are mainly middle and high school students on weekdays, and many elementary school students on weekends. These days, children are very demanding; performance, as well as appearance, are important, and satisfaction is therefore high. After all, it's rare to own a high-end computer or monitor at home, and this gaming room is also very popular because it allows you to play with friends.
As it is a prefectural facility, the usage fee is reasonable (100 yen/hour for those under 25) and it is used daily by many people.

Q. Do you think you will consider JAPANNEXT products in the future?
We are currently considering adding additional equipment to enhance our facilities. We have learned that JAPANNEXT also handles extra-large monitors , such as 55 and 65 inches, so we would definitely like to consider this option.
In addition, a professional e-sports team from Tokushima, "DOPENESS",
used the monitors at this complex and had such a positive experience that she became interested in JAPANNEXT, which is now a sponsor of the team.
